Departures on Tuesday and Friday

  • Train will depart from Heuston Station and head in a south westerly direction through the suburbs of Dublin. You will travel through the countryside of Co. Kildare and then into the middle of the country passed the Bog of Allen. Continue on through the town of Tullamore, famous for their signature whiskey, Tullamore D.E.W. The River Shannon is then crossed which signifies the border between the two provinces of Leinster and Connacht. At this point you will be surrounded by bogs on both sides of the tracks and you will get a first look at the gorgeous Galway Bay on the way into Galway.

  • The tour will depart from right outside Galway Railway Station which is in the centre of Galway City and you will begin to head for Connemara. You may be able to get a look at Ireland's second largest lake (Lough Corrib) on the right hand side on the train.

  • As the day continues, pass through Moycullen village and then through the village of Oughterard and take in the fragrance of the peat fires which make special blue smoke. Then feast your eyes on the sheer beauty of Connemara where there are mountains and lakes all to take in.

  • Stop at Peacockes hotel and Tavern at the Crossroads of Connemara called Maam Cross. Here you will stop for and will have time to do some shopping or grab a coffee.

  • Continue the day tour by travelling between the two mountains Twelve Bens and Maaturk which are located in Maam Valley. You will pause briefly at the quaint little village of Leenane which is located at the head of Killary Harbour. Witness the stunning scenery of Kylemore Abbey where you will stop for almost two hours for lunch and exploring. While you're there why not visit the beautiful Victorian Walled Garden and a Gothic Church.

  • After Kylemore Abbey travel through the village of Letterfrack and see the bays and inlets of the sea/ocean. After getting back on the Wild Atlantic Way you will stop at the Sky Road where you can capture come truly spectacular photographs as there are fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean. As the tour is commencing you will stop at the town of Clifden where you can grab a pint or get some shopping done.

  • After the stop at Clifden, you head back through Galway and have another stop at Maam Cross if needed and arrive back in Galway by 6:30pm.

  • Depart Galway at 19:20pm

  • Arrive back in Heuston Station at 21:45pm

 

 

Departures on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

  • Train will depart from Heuston Station and head in a south westerly direction through the suburbs of Dublin. You will travel through the countryside of Co.   • The tour for Connemara leave the city centre of Galway and you head towards the village of Moycullen and Oughterard. You will then start to witness the beautiful scenery of Connemara with gorgeous views of the countryside.

  • Stop at Kylemore Abbey and Gardens for lunch, which is a 19th Century castle which is owned by nuns who run a restaurant, gift shop and pottery.

  • Stop off at Clifden, the colourful little town, great place for tourists to visit and then travel back to Maam cross but head southwards through the Screeb, Costello and Rossaveal.

  • The tour of Connemara heads towards Galway City along the shores of Galway Bay and see the blue waters of the Atlantic at the unique limestone of the Burren and the Hills of Clare. After your day tour you will return back to Galway Station.

  • Depart Galway at 19:20pm

  • Arrive back in Heuston Station at 21:45pm
