Our Hop-On Hop-Off route covers all of Dublin’s best attractions. During the lead up to International Museum Day we wanted to highlight some must see museums that are located along the way. These history hubs showcase the country’s greatest events for tourists and locals to interact with in an enjoyable way.

14 Henrietta Street - Stop 2

For the hidden gem seekers… Less than 10 minutes from our second stop Parnell Square, you can discover and explore 14 Henrietta Street. This museum is one of the most symbolic Georgian townhouses located in Dublin city. The beautiful red brick building is filled with rich history and heartfelt stories that bring Dublin’s past to life. Home to Lords and Bishops this tenement was also once filled with numerous families who have created nostalgic memories for everyone to enjoy. Be transported back to the 1800s by outstanding guides who know the building and its tales like the back of their hand while embracing Dublin’s roots.

EPIC Irish Emigration Musuem - Stop 3

For those that just want a little more… it’s time to do EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum also situated on the banks of the River Liffey and up to 10 minutes from Stop 2 on our Hop-On Hop-Off route. Voted Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction for 3 consecutive years at the World Travel Awards the museum is not one to be missed. Get a glimpse into Ireland’s greatest achievements and the unique emigration stories of Irish people through captivating digital galleries that’ll entertain any audience. Treat yourself in the CHQ building above the museum or further discover more of Ireland’s past at the Irish Famine Memorial across the way.

Custom House - Stop 3

For the ones who have already done all of Dublin… Visit one of the city’s architectural treasures located along the beautiful quays of Dublin. Admire the unique details both inside and outside the Custom House building that represent the development of the city. Discover the journey of the attraction and its restoration and experience the many exhibitions that will take you back in time. Just under 10 minutes on foot from our second stop on the Hop-On Hop-Off route you will find yourself at the scenic side of Dublin and outside the new attraction.

The Little Museum of Dublin - Stop 7

For the citybreakers… Get the most of your Hop-On Hop-Off tour and experience the Little Museum of Dublin, voted Dublin’s Best Museum by the Irish Times. This quirky spot is situated right by one of the city’s most loved parks, Stephen’s Green and offers a range of tours and exhibitions for visitors of all ages to interact with. Filled with belongings donated by local Dubliner’s the spot has great character and tells a variety of stories. The 3 story Georgian Townhouse is opened 7 days a week and is defiantly one of the Capital’s most treasured attractions.

MoLI Museum of Literature Ireland - Stop 7

For the family… At the same stop on the other side of Stephen’s Green lies another fascinating museum that pays credit to the talented figures of Dublin including James Joyce. The Museum of Literature Ireland. MoLI displays the story of Ireland from past to present through a mix of modern multimedia exhibitions. The museum also overlooks the Iveagh Gardens, where visitors are invited to tour and relax as well as the attractions garden terrace and traditional café. This spot is favourable during the city’s sunny spells and rainy days.

National Museum of Ireland - Stop 23

For the history lovers… Collins Barracks, now home to the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Art & History is filled with collections of cultural significance that cannot be found anywhere else. Choose from a guided tour of the 1916 Proclaiming the Republic exhibition or a walking tour to further uncover the fascinating facts of Ireland’s key periods of the past. See iconic military artefacts and remarkable rooms within the barracks. The museum's most popular attraction is the Michael Collins collection which includes donated personal belongings and other interesting features that are beautifully displayed and explained.
