Located in Foster Place, Dublin city, the Central Bank of Ireland began its unique work back in 1943. From then on, the bank has tackled obstacles with limited powers and operations in its early past and the stories and engaging exhibitions will uncover its journey to the present day.

The bank has opened and displayed rare tokens from its archives to best showcase the compelling role the Central Bank has played through periods of growth and crisis within the economy.

The exhibition 'Pounds, Shillings & Independence' depicts the development of the Irish Free State in 1922 and the management and control involved in the Irish currency that followed.

The process behind both the Ploughman’s series of notes and the Series A Banknotes is explored within the attraction along with other unique designs and characteristics of other qualities.

Experience more free attractions in the city like The National Botanic Gardens, The Garda Museum, and The James Joyce Tower.
