Inside the Museum of Curiosities

Looking for something a little different to do in Dublin? Say hello to The Museum of Curiosities – the city’s newest (and arguably quirkiest!) cultural hotspot that’s already making waves with locals and visitors alike.

Tucked away at 35 Pembroke Street (city tour stop 7), this hidden gem is not your average museum. Forget the traditional glass cases and dusty artefacts – this is an immersive, interactive adventure into the unusual, the odd, and the utterly fascinating. Think Victorian oddities, shrunken heads, curious inventions, optical illusions, bizarre taxidermy, ancient rituals, and stories so strange they have to be true.

The attraction is open to curious minds of all ages, and many families have had a brilliant time exploring its quirky wonders. That said, a few exhibits include some eerie or macabre themes, so it might not be for the faint of heart! The Museum of Curiosities is the brainchild of Dubliner and cabaret performer Monsieur Pompier – a name that’s become legendary among lovers of the weird and wonderful.

What started as a cult Twitter account sharing strange and fascinating finds from dusty old books, forgotten archives, and the far corners of the internet has grown into something much bigger: a real-world collection shaped by years of travel, live performance, and a lifelong fascination with the grotesque, the uncanny, and the beautifully bizarre.

Your visit does kick off with a short, lively introduction from the museum’s team, giving you a glimpse into its curious origins and how the collection came to be. Every object tells a story – whether it’s a fragment of folklore, a theatrical invention or a trace of long-lost belief, each corner invites you to peer a little closer.

Most visitors spend around 40 minutes to an hour soaking it all in. Whether you like to linger over the oddities or breeze through the bizarre, it’s completely up to you!

If you're fascinated by the darker, stranger side of Dublin, we recommend checking out the Ghostbus Tour, Legends, Ghosts & Ghouls Tour, or the Macabre Dublin Tour.
